Great new site for ceiling hoist users

†We've come across a great new website that is a must for anyone who uses a ceiling hoist, or who needs a hoist when they travel away from home. It's also an excellent example of how to design a website that is accessible to all.

CHuC (the Ceiling Hoist Users Club) has been set up by Equal Ability CIC to promote the interests of those disabled people who need to use hoists and particularly those who need, or prefer, ceiling track hoists. The lack of ceiling track hoists in away from home accommodation (hotels, guest houses and self-catering accommodation) severely limits many disabled people's ability to go away for leisure, business, or important social events.

The site is a fund of information about ceiling hoists in general, their use and the hotels and other holiday accommodation that currently provide these invaluable pieces of equipment. The sad thing is that, at the moment at least, the availability of ceiling hoist in hotels and other holiday accommodation is severely limited. But websites like this can only help to raise awareness and hopefully encourage greater provision
