Make use of your local Home Improvement Agency!

†Home Improvement Agencies (HIAs) are not-for-profit, locally based organisations that assist vulnerable older or disabled homeowners and tenants to repair, improve, maintain or adapt their homes. By improving people's living conditions, HIAs enhance their quality of life and enable them to remain in their home in greater comfort and security, and are often the difference between a vulnerable person being able to continue living at home and going into care.

HIAs offer varied services, including financial and welfare rights advice, help with minor repairs, security measures, small adaptations and larger Disabled Facility Grant funded work. Some HIAs also provide housing options advice, hospital discharge services and gardening services.
